Copywriting for Social Media, Websites, and Business – Part Nineteen

We’ve all seen those counters that still appear on some websites. These are great if they show that you’re the ten millionth visitor in the last twelve months, indicating that the site is of interest to a great many people. However, they give a very different impression if they reveal that you’re the one hundredth visitor since January 2001.

Yes, we’re all busier than ever these days, bombarded by messages from so many directions, but it can spell disaster if you have out of date information on your website. Pictures from three years ago, even if they show you receiving a prestigious award, that feature a caption stating that they were taken last week, certainly don’t do you any favours. Neither does a testimonial that praises you as being the best in your particular field and outlining your plans for 2007.

This kind of thing tells everyone that you aren’t paying attention to what’s essentially your shop window, the place where people first encounter you and make a decision whether or not to do business with your company. Keep it current. You’ll be glad that you did.

I have extensive experience in writing for a wide range of industries and markets. Contact me directly for details of rates and fees regarding copywriting services.
